BBC commissions 40 episodes of The Link
STV Productions, in association with LTV, have been commissioned to make another 40 episodes of the innovative quiz show The Link for BBC One daytime.
The Link is presented by actor Mark Williams (Father Brown, Blandings and the Harry Potter franchise). The first series of the quiz show, which first aired from May 2014, was ranked as the number one programme in its daytime timeslot.
Over the course of 45 minutes, The Link sees three teams race against time to find the link between questions. It’s a game that rewards daring, strategy and teamwork - make the connections, break the links, win money – it’s simple.
Andrew Robertson is executive producer for STV Productions and Jo Street is executive producer for BBC.
Gary Chippington, head of entertainment for STV Productions, said: “We’re thrilled that the addictive gameplay of The Link, combined with Mark’s fantastic stewardship, proved such a hit with the daytime audience, and are thrilled to be making another series for BBC One.”
PJ Johnson, executive producer for LTV Productions, said: “We hope the second series for The Link will build and further expand our loyal BBC One audience in the UK; while further creating more excitement with all our Warner Bros International TV Distribution broadcast partners as well.”
Warner Bros. International Television Production is the global distributor of The Link format.
STV productions developed the format in partnership with LTV. LTV was created by PJ Johnson and Angela Johnson from Tuvalu Entertainment Ltd. and former ‘Ad Men’ turned game developers, Tristan Hyatt-Williams, Ben Drummond and Dean Tempest – the team behind one of the UK’s most innovative new board games, Linkee®.
